The Locals charges a flat 20% commission on the net (pre-VAT) price of every sale. You keep 80%. There are no listing fees, no monthly subscription, and no charge for joining the platform — we only earn when you do.

Prices on The Locals are displayed VAT-inclusive, as required in the UAE. Commission is calculated on the net (pre-VAT) price, not the gross — so VAT never inflates our commission or reduces your share unfairly.

Example: a piece sells for AED 105 (VAT-inclusive). The 5% VAT portion is AED 5, leaving a net price of AED 100. The Locals commission is 20% of the net — AED 20 — and your payout is 80% of the net: AED 80.

Every order line in your dashboard shows the exact commission and payout amounts, so there is never any guesswork.

You keep your own stock at your own space. When a customer orders one of your pieces, we dispatch a courier to collect it from you — typically within 24 hours — and we handle delivery to the customer anywhere in the 7 UAE Emirates.

Your dashboard shows every pending and scheduled pickup, including courier contact details and an itemised pack list, so handover takes minutes. You never pre-ship bulk stock, and you stay in full control of your inventory.

Payouts are generated for delivered orders and paid to the bank account you register during onboarding. Each payout comes with a full order-by-order breakdown in your Earnings tab, and you are notified by email when a payout is processed.

Returns and refunds are reconciled with the affected orders so your statements stay accurate. If anything about a payout looks off, our brand team reviews it with you directly.

The Locals operates in line with UAE VAT rules. Customer prices include 5% VAT, and tax invoices are generated for completed orders on the platform.

Your commission statements and payout breakdowns separate net price, VAT, commission, and payout clearly. Brands remain responsible for their own tax registration and reporting obligations — if you are unsure about your VAT position, we recommend speaking with a tax adviser.

Apply through our brand application. Our team reviews every application to keep the marketplace genuinely curated. Once approved, you receive a secure setup link, complete onboarding — including your commission agreement and bank details — and can start listing products from your dashboard.

Products go through a quick quality review before they appear on the marketplace, keeping the standard high for every brand on the platform.
